Pierre-Yves Colin-Morey Producer Profile

Pierre-Yves Colin-Morey.

One of the most pedigreed white Burgundy producers working today — and the entry-level bottles still over-deliver.

About the estate

Saint-Aubin and Meursault, with a négoce arm that punches above its weight.

Pierre-Yves Colin spent his early career at his father Marc Colin’s estate before founding his own house with his wife Caroline Morey in 2005. The estate works about 12 hectares of family parcels across Saint-Aubin, Chassagne-Montrachet, and Meursault, supplemented by a négoce label that sources fruit from carefully selected partners across the Côte de Beaune.

PYCM is best known for low-yield, low-oak-influence Chardonnay with sharp focus on terroir. The wines are bottled early to preserve freshness; the resulting profile is mineral, citrus-led, and built for the table rather than for points.

House style

Disciplined oak, tight focus, food-first wines.

Where some white Burgundy producers lean into ripeness and oak, PYCM leans the other direction. Picked early, fermented in proportion (typically less than 25% new oak even at Premier Cru level), and bottled with restraint. The Bourgogne Blanc tastes like a far more expensive wine; the Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Crus are some of the most age-worthy whites in their tier.

The reds, less commonly discussed, are also worth knowing — particularly the Santenay and Chassagne-Montrachet rouge, which show what white-Burgundy-producer attention to detail can do for the lighter side of red Burgundy.
