The neighborhood

North Boulder, between the Boulderado and Ideal Market.

Boulder Wine Merchant sits at 2690 Broadway, two blocks north of Alpine, in the stretch of North Boulder where Broadway transitions from the downtown corridor into the residential blocks of Newlands. Our neighbors include Ideal Market, the Boulderado Hotel a few minutes south, and the North Boulder Park trailhead a short walk west. The neighborhood is dense enough to walk and quiet enough that street parking is rarely a problem.

We are a one-block walk from the Skip bus line and a block from the Boulder B-Cycle station at North Boulder Park. Bike racks at the front door for cyclists. Free street parking on Broadway and on the side streets immediately behind the shop. We do not have a dedicated lot — the building has been a wine shop since 1980 and the parking math has always worked out.

When to visit

Quieter weekdays, busier Saturdays, Wednesday tastings.

Weekday afternoons (Mon-Fri, 1-4 PM) are the quietest time at the shop and the best window for serious advice. The team has time to walk through choices, pull older bottles from the back, or sit with you on a cellar question. If you are looking to start a conversation about cellar consulting or allocations, this is the right window.

Wednesday evenings (5-7 PM) are the open-tasting window. Wine Wednesday is free, walk-in, and themed. Expect a busier shop with three or four pours flowing, regulars catching up, and producers occasionally in the room.

Saturdays are the busiest day at the shop. Mid-morning (10 AM-noon) is calmer than mid-afternoon. If you want to meet Brett, Saturday mid-morning is your best bet on most weeks.

Sundays we open at 11 AM and close at 8 PM. Quieter than Saturday. We sometimes host Sunday afternoon maker visits — check the calendar.

What to expect inside

A real shop, not a showroom.

The floor is organized by region and category, with our Burgundy, Bordeaux, and Italian benches running the back wall and our domestic and natural wine selection along the side. Spirits, beer, sake, and provisions are toward the front. The team is happy to walk you through the floor or pull bottles based on a budget, a meal, or a producer you are curious about.

Tastings run on Wednesday evenings (Wine Wednesday) and occasionally on Sunday afternoons (maker visits). The rest of the week, you are welcome to ask the team to open something to taste before buying — we do this on most days for serious questions, especially in the higher-end Burgundy and Bordeaux categories.

We ship within Colorado and to most other states (with restrictions). For curbside pickup, call ahead and we will have your order at the door.
