Cellar consulting

A small number of clients work directly with Brett on building cellars, sourcing rare bottles, and designing tastings.

Cellar consulting at Boulder Wine Merchant is not a productized service with tiers and feature lists. It is a working relationship between Brett and a small number of clients who have made the decision to take their cellar seriously.

Curated cases

Twelve bottles that belong together. Pre-built cases for entry-level Burgundy, the Italian table, holiday gifting, and starter cellars.

Building a thoughtful case is where customers most often ask for help. Each is balanced for variety and priced with our case discount: 15% off any 12 or more bottles of wine, any size, mix and match.

Gifting

A bottle chosen for the person it is going to: birthdays, thank-yous, sympathy, celebrations and company gifts. Chosen at the shop and collected at 2690 Broadway.

A gift bottle should feel chosen, not grabbed. Tell us the recipient, the budget and the message, and we will help you pick something that suits them.

Boulder Wine Merchant gift card

Gift cards

A physical gift card for $25, $50, $100 or $250, or any amount up to $2,000. Buy it online and pick it up at the shop. It is spent in the shop only.

Gift cards

Birthdays. A bottle from the year, or simply the best thing at your budget.

Thank-yous. For a favour, a referral or a kindness, one good bottle with a handwritten card says it plainly.

Sympathy. Quiet, unshowy and collected without fuss. Ask at the counter and we will keep it simple.

Celebrations. A new house, a new job, an engagement, an anniversary. Champagne is not the only answer, but it is a good one.

Companies and teams. For an office opening, a team celebration or a client evening, tell us how many people and what the occasion is. If you would rather taste with the shop first, see private tastings.

Gift enquiry

Should the wines be identical or varied?

Gifts are collected at the shop, 2690 Broadway, so we do not ask for an address.

For larger company gifting, see also corporate gifts.

Corporate gifts

Client gifts, holiday allocations, executive cellars.

We work with Boulder-area firms (and beyond) on holiday gifting, client onboarding gifts, board appreciation, and executive cellar fills. We package: wax-sealed, gold-leaf, hand-tied, depending on the look you want. From 12 bottles up to several hundred.

Storage and provenance

Why wine that arrives at our shop in cold-chain condition costs more than wine that doesn't, and stays drinkable for decades longer.

The wine in our cellar is the same wine you can buy in some grocery stores. The wine you receive from us is not. The difference is provenance: how the wine got from the producer's cellar in France or Italy or Germany to our shelves in Boulder.

Private tastings

A guided tasting in your home, the shop, or a private dining room.

A typical private tasting runs 6-8 wines over two hours, with Brett walking the room through each pour: what it is, where it is from, why we are pouring it, and how to taste it.

Tell us what you have in mind and Brett will be in touch within 2 business days with ideas and pricing.
