Walter Scott ‘Bois-Moi’ Chardonnay, Willamette Valley, Oregon 2020

Erica Landon and Ken Pahlow founded Walter Scott wines in 2008. The name Walter Scott honors two men who meant the world to Ken. Walter, Ken’s grandfather, was a flight engineer for Trans World Airlines. Scott was Ken’s nephew who sadly passed far too young. Scott’s departure taught Ken that life is very short and you must act on your ambitions because you never know when your chance will pass. The 2020 vintage was another heartbreak for Erica and Ken, as fires decimated the landscape and left their Pinot Noir grapes unsalvageable. For this vintage they will only make Chardonnay, and their Bois-Moi is a triumph. The nose shows layers of fresh tangerine, nectarine and meyer lemon, with the palate providing a richly textured wine with mineral and saline characters on the finish.
