Vietti ‘Rocche di Castiglione’ Barolo 2018
The grapes to produce this wine are grown in one of the historic vineyards of the Barolo area, Rocche in Castiglione Falletto, where the grapevines were planted in three different moments – 1940, 1950 and 1968. The destemmed Nebbiolo grapes were destemmed and vinified in stainless steel before aging for 30 months in large oak casks. It was bottled without filtration. Rocche di Castiglione has a medium-intense ruby red color. Its nose is complex and elegant, offering notes of ripe red cherries, rose petals, and mineral nuances. There is a good intensity on the palate; it is fresh, well- balanced, silky, mouth-filling and rounded. The prominent tannins are well-integrated. This wine has a long and persistent finish with good freshness. This Barolo will cellar well and is meant for food, so drink it with stewed meats, wild game, red meats and seasoned cheeses.
