Vale do Bomfim Douro 2019, Portugal

Portugal’s Douro Valley is most famous for their sweet fortified wines, but more and more producers have branched out to also make bold, dry red wines.  Bonfim is produced by the renowned Syminton family of Port.  It is a field blend of 30% Touriga Franca, 20% Touriga Nacional, and 50% other native grapes. This wine is impressively good for its price point.  Ruby-hued Bomfim offers a robust personality brimming with dark fruit and a touch of roasted earth with velvety tannins and a medium body.  It will accompany a casual steak dinner or aged Iberico cheese especially well.
