Tembo Pinot Noir, California 2019

It is a challenge to find value-priced Pinot Noir, so we took notice when we tasted this bottling.  It is undeniably a fruit-driven California style.  Tembo is aromatic and offers flavors of black raspberries, ripe red strawberries, and strawberry candies, all on a light to medium body.  The wine was partially destemmed and spent 1 month in French oak barrels, a quarter of which were new. You can have a glass of this all by itself, or alongside salmon with mushrooms. The Brack Mountain Wine Company named this tasty wine “Tembo”, which is Swahili for elephant. Proceeds from the Tembo project are donated directly to the Tsavo Trust, a Kenyan non-profit conservation organization.
