This is a robust Mediterranean red from a renowned Spanish winemaker.  Monastrell (known as Mourvedre in France) thrives in Alicante’s warm and dry climate.  Here the bush-trained vines are planted with very low density so they can be dry farmed.  Look for high tones of herbs and flowers on the nose, with plenty of dark fruit on the palate and just enough balancing acidity.  Serve this with burgers, Mediterranean flavors, or pisto with manchego.
