Sartarelli is one the Marche’s finest wineries; they specialize in Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi. While their “Spiaggia” is declassified as IGT, it is all estate from Saraterlli’s certified chemical-free vineyards.   Verdicchio makes a dry white wine with a light body and of refreshing acidity.  It wafts from the glass with expressive notes of peaches and yellow apples, accented by lemon rind and almonds. Spiaggia has a medium body with plenty of backbone and structure to hold up to food. If you can’t get to a warm beach to sip on this, it is also a terrific aperitif wine served alongside marcona almonds, Prosciutto, savory tarts, potato-cheese puff pastries, quiche and savory soufflés.
