Rascal Pinot Noir 2021

The Rascal brand of wines has been one of our favorites for a very long time. Owned by The Great Oregon Wine Company (makers of Duck Pond, another go-to at the store) a percentage of sales from every bottle of Rascal wines goes towards supporting The Humane Society. To date, they have donated over $80,000 to this worthy cause. Unfortunately, The Great Oregon Wine Company was devastated by the wildfires that swept across Oregon in 2020. The damage was so bad that making a Pinot Noir from here in 2020 became untenable. They turned to the Central Valley of Chile, just south of Santiago, to source their grapes. This version of their Pinot Noir offers an intense and complex nose of black cherries, blueberries and plums, combined with subtle savory notes of tobacco, sweet basil and vanilla.
