Ransom Tinta Cao 2017

With its strong tannins and acidity, Tinta Cao is one of the five main grapes used to make Port wine and is the reason why they have such longevity in the bottle. When made into a dry wine, Tinta Cao shows the same incredible structure and depth of fruit flavors it offers in Port. This wine has a unique and exotic nose of blackberries, black cherries, iron minerality, leather, and dark chocolate. After a few swirls the wine reveals additional notes of fresh flowers and dried herbs. The palate shows the power this wine possesses, with flavors of plum, cherries, licorice, and beetroot. The twenty months of barrel aging in freshly used barrels adds its own layer of vanilla, toast, cinnamon, and clove, making for an tremendous amount of depth in flavors.
