Pike Road’s Pinot Gris is juicy and generous. It jumps from the glass with aromas of peaches, cherries, orange zest, and flowers. The flavorful palate is loaded with apples, pear, nectarine, honeycomb, and a trace of basil. It possesses just enough acidity on its lingering finish to keep all the fruit in balance. Pike Road’s Pinot Gris is hand-harvested in the Willamette Valley and vinified without oak. Pike Road is owned by the Campbell family, the founders of Elk Cove Vineyards in the Willamette Valley. They planted their first 20 acres of vines in 1974 and since then have grown substantially. This is a ripe and extroverted expression of Pinot Gris that proves to be terrifically food-versatile. Enjoy it with autumnal veggies, especially roasted butternut squash.
