Paul D. Zweigelt 2021, Wagram, Austria 1L

Zweigelt, one of Austria’s signature grapes, is a crossing between St. Laurent and Blaufränkisch. This example greets you with a punchy bright ruby color and aromas of dark fruit and black pepper.  On the palate, you will find pomegranate and fresh red raspberries intermixed with a subtle floral note reminiscent of violets.  With a light to medium-body, you can serve this with a slight chill.  And the liter-size bottle will make its way around your dinner table a bit further. The grapes were organically grown by Paul Direder.  He is the current proprietor of the Direder Farm which dates back to 1849 with Paul’s great-great-grandfather.
