Meroi “Nèstri” Rosso 2018, Friuli Colli Orientali
For more than a century, the Meroi family has been a caretaker of the land and people in and around the small village of Buttrio in Italy’s Friuli region. Paolo Meroi now runs the 3rd generation restaurant, Trattoria al Parco, as well as his family’s vineyard holdings, wine production, and hotel. ” Nèstri” is a blend of 75% Merlot and 24% Refosco, all orgnically grown. The wine aged for 18 months in 100% used barrique. A deep ruby color welcomes you to enjoy aromas of plum, bing cherry, currants, violets, tobacco, spice and a hint of smoke. The medium body is vibrant, balanced and well structured, with a lovely texture, which is underlined by a nice touch of acidity keeping it fresh and inviting through the finish.
