Le Ragnaie Brunello di Montalcino 2017

Le Ragnaie’s estate boast the highest elevation vines in Montalcino.  Winemaker Riccardo Campinoti acquired the property in 2000 and embraces traditional Tuscan methods. to produce wines that deeply reflect the region. He employs organic viticulture, grapes are hand-picked, de-stemmed, fermented and aged in large, old, Slovenian oak casks for 36 months. This excellent wine offers up aromas of red and black cherries, iron, and spices.  It possesses both grace and power, with an outstanding acid-tannin balance and layers of complexity.  Youthfully chewy, it benefits now from decanting and will reward cellaring.

In case you are wondering, the label depicts a traditional bird-catcher’s net.  It resembles a spider web, or ragna in Italian, from which Le Ragnaie takes its name.
