Larrivet Haut-Brion Pessac-Leognan Blanc 2020
Not many châteaux can take on the big players and win, but Haut-Brion Larrivet did just that. In 1929 it won a legal battle against First Growth Haut-Brion to keep its name, the only stipulation was that it be reversed so that Haut-Brion had less prominence, and so it was changed to Larrivet Haut-Brion.
Taut and delicious with razor-sharp, mouthwatering acidity and a lip-smacking texture from careful rolling of the barrels while the wine is on its lees. There’s tons of complexity with juicy citrus, white peach, pineapple, and oyster shell. Intense salinity on the finish cuts through the concentrated, juicy fruit. Incredible.
