Gomez Cruzado Crianza Rioja 2016
The origins of Bodegas y Viñedos Gómez Cruzado date back to 1886, when Ángel Gómez de Arteche, a nobleman related to the Duke of Moctezuma de Tultengo, decided to start making and bottling his own wine in Haro, in the heart of Rioja Alta. Situated among its esteemed colleges, Lopez de Heredia, La Rioja Alta, and Muga, Gómez Cruzado is currently run by the leadership team of Rioja-natives David González and Juan Antonio Leza. Their Crainza is a blend of 80% Tempranillo and 20% Garnacha from various parcels within Rioja. The wine is aged for 12 months in mostly new American oak barriques before being bottled and aged. Classic and delicious, displaying a blend of cherries and blackberries leading into flavors of tobacco, vanilla and licorice.
