Fosso Corno Rosa Cerasuolo d’Abruzzo 2020

Fosso Corno is a small estate that sits along the rolling coastal hilltops of Abruzzo overlooking the Adriatic Sea to the East. As is typical of this area, Montepulciano is their predominant grape, most of which goes into making the traditionally robust Montepulciano d’Abruzzo. However some of the grapes are better suited to make rosé, which is locally (and since 2010 officially) called Cerasuolo. Cerasuolo translates to “cherry-like”, and although Cerasuolo d’Abruzzo is a newly official classification, these wines have been made here since the 1800’s. Some Cerasuoli are richer, almost light red wines, while others are a faint pink color. Fosso Corno’s is clearly the latter, with subtle notes of flowers, red fruits, and citrus fruits.
