Dalla Valle “Maya’ Red, Napa Valley 2017

Dalla Valle Vineyards is recognized as one of Napa Valley’s preeminent family-run wineries. Founded in 1986 by Naoko and her late husband Gustav Dalla Valle, on the famed eastern hillsides of Oakville, Dalla Valle Vineyards has earned acclaim as one of world’s most celebrated wine estates, yielding wines of extraordinary character and complexity, vintage after vintage.

Today, Dalla Valle is guided by the mother-and-daughter team of Naoko and Maya Dalla Valle, who work alongside an illustrious team that includes Consulting Winemaker Andy Erickson, Vineyard Manager Edgar Alfaro, as well as Consulting Enologist Michel Rolland.

“Maya” originates in the remarkable vineyard that shares its name. A proprietary blend aged in primarily new French oak, Maya showcases the site’s exceptional Cabernet Franc; it is graceful and alluring with an unmistakable pedigree. Fewer than 500 cases are produced each year. Given 2017’s mild, steady growing season, with a crescendo
of ripening at the end, both Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc yielded wines that were boldly structured, with excellent acid-tannin balance, purity of fruit, and aromatic expression. Aged for 21 months in French oak, and bottling without fining or filtration.
