Valdiguié (Napa Gamay) from Terry Wilson’s Rancho Chimiles vineyard in Wooden Valley, Napa Valley AVA. A cooler region in south Napa, nestled against the Vacas mountains. Persistent mid-morning fog prevents extreme temperatures. Vines are 40+ years old. No tillage in the vineyard with a permanent cover crop on silt loam soils, transitioning to organic starting this year.
Cruse Wine Company is his small winery in Petaluma dedicated to making uniquely Californian wine for your table, often with bubbles. Cruse creates wines that are fruit-driven, fresh and delicious, but still serious. The roots of the North Coast run deep with Michael, so he chooses to focus on sites within Napa, Sonoma, Mendocino and Contra Costa Counties to craft these wines. Uninterested in creating yet another Pinot Noir or Cabernet, he instead finds inspiration in lesser-known varieties such as Valdiguie, Tannant, Carignan and St. Laurent.
This delightful and unique wine has a pale pink hue. It offers bright berry tones and a lingering finish.
