Chateau Moncontour Demi-Sec Vouvray 2020
Château Moncontour overlooks the Loire River, and extends over the hillsides in the heart of the Vouvray appellation. This winery is one of the most remarkable historic sites in the Loire Valley. The Chenin Blanc grapes for this Demi-Sec (off-dry) Vouvray are harvested at full ripeness, then the juice is fermented and rests in tanks for four to six months. This wine is bottles with some residual sugar, which fits with its honeyed flavor and is balanced by Chenin’s bright acidity. Its almond and quince notes and wonderful fullness are particularly memorable, as well as its excellent freshness. Enjoy this wine with spicy cuisines, salty sausages, or after dinner with a cheese platter.
