Chateau Haut-Lamouthe Bergerac 2020, France
If you are not familiar with Bergerac, then think Bordeaux stylistically. Bergerac is just to the east of Bordeaux, also situated on the Dordogne River. Haut-Lamouthe’s example is a blend of 55% Merlot, 30% Cabernet Franc, and 15% Cabernet Sauvignon, all estate grown by this family winery. Look for black currants and black tea with a lifting accent of cedar. Moderate tannins provide structure. This is a very dry and savory red meant for your dinner table. It will be excellent with a slow cooked beef stew, lamb chops, or aged cheddar.
