Cartello Sonoma Red, 2019, California
What a terrific deal! This wine used to retail for $32, but is on special to make room for the new vintage. Cartello’s Red is biodynamic and estate grown at Milo Family vineyards in Alexander Valley. No attention to detail has been spared here. Whole cluster Grenache comprises half of the blend, along with destemmed Carignan and whole cluster Carignan and Syrah. The wine aged for 2 years in neutral French oak. Its ruby hue beckons you to take in its cheerful aromas of red cherries with hints of violets and vanilla. You will find a black pepper note intermixed with cherries on the medium body with velvety tannins. Stock up white you can and be sure to bring this to your next barbecue.
