Calina Carménère Reserva 2020, Valle Central, Chile
Carménère, with its notes reminiscent of fall leaves, is a fitting wine for autumn. Calina’s example has generous scents of ripe dark fruits intermixed with vanilla and black tea. It is medium bodied with opulent fruit and integrated, velvety tannins. The wine matured in a combination of French and American oak barrels. This 2020 is open knit and drinking well now with its time in bottle. The Carménère grape is native to Bordeaux, but found a fabulous home in Chile, where it has become a signature varietal. We score an amazing deal on this–regular price would be $23– so scoop up yours before it’s all gone for good!
