Bohigas Xarel-lo, Catalonia, Spain 2020
The Bohigas family can trace its roots at the same site in Catalonia to the 13th century, but the story really began in the 1930s when the great-uncle of the current owner began making Cava at the estate. Jordi Casanovas Bohigas continues the tradition of making delicious sparkling wines, but also bottles the still wine you see here. Xarel-lo is one of the primary grapes of Spanish Cava and is responsible for the wine’s crisp acidity. In fact, this wine has similar flavors to what you’d find in Cava, with notes of lemon, white peach, lime blossoms and almonds. Everything you’d want, minus the bubbles.
