Alta Vista ‘Vive’ Malbec, Argentina 2022

Alta Vista Wines is a historic and ground-breaking winery in Mendoza, Argentina. They were one of the first to bottle single-vineyard Malbec in the 90’s, with a focus on high altitude, site-specific wines. Their ultimate goal is to raise Argentinian Malbec to the level of other wines around the world, full of all the terroir necessary to make a fine wine. The ‘Vive’ Malbec is their introductory wine, made to highlight the natural character of the Malbec grape instead of any single place.  Plum, black cherry and exotic spices, with notes of coffee and vanilla from the oak barrels lead to a fresh palate, with good structure and soft tannins.

 

Super solid for the price. Solid. Round joven but not spunky. Fruit darkens and grips towards finish.

Shows intense aromas of plum, black cherry and exotic spices, with notes of coffee and vanilla from the oak barrels. The flavors on the palate are fresh, with good structure and soft tannins, and the finish is full and concentrated, with spice notes.

 

This wine is quite approachable, fun and easy-to-drink, perfect for every-day consumption and for relaxed, casual food like Panini sandwiches, pizza and beef or pork empanadas.
