Alain Voge ‘Les Chailles’ Cornas 2018

Alain Voge is a name deeply connected to Cornas. In fact, he was a pioneer for the appellation. For several generations his family had established themselves primarily through polyculture. But in 1958, Alain turned his focus solely to wine. He began reviving and replanting abandoned vineyards on steep slopes and is now farming a small but mighty 13 hectares. Until 2003, “Les Chailles” was merely a table wine, a wine to discover and learn the beauty of Syrah and the talent of the domaine. It is a blend of several different parcels throughout Cornas gaining its complexity from the different terroir and aspects of the different sites. These 40+ year old Syrah vines produce characteristics of cassis, violets, game, pepper and a hint of lavender. It is pure and approachable Cornas. Drink in the next 10 years.
