Adega Ponte de Lima ‘Schist’ Vinho Verde 2020
This month we are proud to once again spotlight Vinho Verde’s potential for greatness and terroir. Although best known for producing ubiquitous wines that tend towards being generic, if you dig deeper exceptional wines can be found. Last month we featured Vale do Homem, a dry, still style of Vinho Verde; now we are offering Adega Ponte de Lima’s ‘Schist’ Vinho Verde. What sets this wine apart from all others is it’s focus on a single-vineyard site planted entirely on Schist soils. Made from 100% Loureiro grapes, this wine focuses on the more mineral and complex side of Vinho Verde, while maintaining its typical spritz and subtle hint of sweetness. A mere 500 cases of this wine were made, making it a micro-production by Vinho Verde standards.
