This is a lifted and cheerful red for warm weather sipping. It is uncommonly fresh and not extracted for an Australian red, since it hails from the cooler Murray-Darling in Victoria. Look for aromas and flavors of blackberries in an easy drinking format. Mother Block comes from the red sand and limestone soils of the Chalmers Family Vineyard; this unique and diverse vineyard is the adopted home to each variety that they’ve imported to Australia over the last 20+ years. It is also the source block for supplying millions of vines planted across Australia through their vine nursery, hence the name ‘Mother Block.” It’s an unusual blend of Italian varietals: 51% Sagrantino, 16% Piedrosso, 11% Negroamaro, 7% Graciano, 5% Teroldego, 5% Nero d’Avola, and 5% Uva di Troia. Delightful sipped on its own, especially with a light chill.
