Rugby Scott Meats now available at Boulder Wine Merchant!

We are thrilled to share the news: Rugby Scott Meats, one of the top ranchers of heirloom, high-quality beef and pork, is now available at the shop, the exclusive Boulder retailer.

These aren’t just your everyday beef and pork products. The filet, New York strip, and 45-day, dry-aged ribeyes are all Wagyu. The hotdogs are made from a blend of Wagyu and Mangalitsa pork. We also have Kurobuta bone-in pork chops, pork patties, Wagyu ground beef, and Mangalitsa pear and gorgonzola sausages.

Some of you may not know that before pivoting to wine and becoming a Master Sommelier, Brett was also a professional chef.

“I’m very excited about these products,” he says. “The Mangalitsa pigs are special and the quality of their fat is amazing. [Winemaker] Hans Czerny in the Wagram [region of Austria] was one of the early sources for these animals.”

Of course, what good is all that great beef and pork if you don’t have any grill-friendly wine to pair with it?

We’ve also put together a number of wines that we love to serve with grilled meats here.

Wednesday Complimentary Tasting

For next week’s in-store tasting, Wednesday, May 31, 5-7pm, we are pleased to welcome co-founder of the Lorenza winery in California, Melinda Karney, who will be pouring three of her family’s wines (see below).

A note from the Lorenza winery:

“Lorenza originated from a shared love of Provence Rosé by co-founders Melinda Kearney and Michèle Ouellet. A beautiful glass of wine and all its intricacies was not new for the mother-daughter duo. As a wine and food-obsessed family living in Napa Valley they were in pursuit of the perfect rosé to pair with everything and the summer feelings it evoked.”

We hope you can join us for what is surely to be a memorable tasting with Melinda! Thank you for your support!

The wines:

Lorenza Picpoul 2021, Lodi ($27.98)
Lorenza Rosé 2022, California ($22.98)
Lorenza Bechtold Vineyard Cinsault 2021, Mokelumne River, Lodi ($39.98)
