Haykin Family Cider Tasting
Friday, November 22, 5-7pm
complimentary

Haykin Family Cider is an award-winning small batch cidery run by husband and wife, Daniel and Talia Haykin. With tiny bubbles, they produce a sparkling wine-like cider in a variety of sweetness levels. Elevating the apple like wineries treat grapes, Haykin Family Cider highlights the flavor and complexity of interesting and unique apples.

“Dan is an absolute superstar in the world of cider,” says Brett. “We should all be thankful that he landed in Colorado with Haykin Ciders. His passion for alcoholic apple products is infectious and inspiring. Not only is he a super talented producer, but he is also an encyclopedia of apple knowledge in general. We are so happy to have represented the Haykin products since Dan and Talia started their journey.”

Here’s what we’ll be pouring:

McIntosh: This apple has a distinctive vinous aromatic and flavor profile that persists through fermentation. It is crisp, perfumed, and smooth; reminiscent of cream soda, peach rings, and lemons. $12.49 per 375ml bottle

Kingston Black: Kingston Black is a highly esteemed English cider apple. It excels in the production of tannin, aroma, and enigmatic flavors. It is golden in color with notes of figs, clove, cinnamon, banana, maple syrup, oak, and lemon meringue. 100% Kingston Black apples grown at Idyl Acres. $16.49 per 375ml bottle.

Porter’s Perfection: Porter’s Perfection is a famous English cider apple that produces many siamese twins and triplets, conjoined apples throughout the orchard. It tastes like pineapple, guava, passion fruit, lemon zest, with a kiss of tannin. 75% Porter’s Perfection apples from CiderView Orchards, 20% Northern Spy, and 5% Golden Russet apples from Uncle Johns. $18.99 per 750ml bottle.

Geeveston Fanny: This apple was discovered in Geeveston, Australia in 1870 by a woman named Fanny. It has a prominent pear aroma, with flavors of white peach, slate minerality, light apple essence. It is dry, refreshing, and light. 75% Geeveston Fanny and 25% blend of tart heirloom apples from Idyll Acres. $18.99 per 750ml bottle.

Two non-alcoholic options will be available to taste as well!

Dolgo Crabapple (non-alcoholic): The Dolgo Crabapple hails from Russia and its name means ‘long’ because the apple is egg shaped. When it ripens, the skin is dark purple and imparts a light pink and burnt orange pigment. Dolgo showcases the aromas and flavors of raspberries, alpine strawberries, watermelon rind, rose water, with a soft tannic structure. $18.99 per $750ml bottle.

Gravenstein(non-alcoholic): A very old European apple that became tremendously popular in Sebastopol, California. It is luscious and juicy, exuding the character of lemon meringue, grapes, kiwi, and melon. $18.99 per 750ml bottle.
