Champagne is one of life’s true delights. While we adore quite a few Grandes Marques, it is terrific to see Grower Champagnes capturing the hearts of enthusiasts. The grower movement began two decades ago and has resulted in an exciting diversity of Champagnes making their way to our offerings.

Unlike the grand Champagne houses that source grapes from across the region, Grower Champagnes are crafted by families who farm their own grapes and make their own wine, all from their own vineyards. Think of them as the vignerons of Champagne — artisans who farm their land, often the same plots their great-grandparents tended, bringing forth wines that speak profoundly of place.

These small-production wines tell the story of specific villages, soils, and families. When you see the tiny “Récoltant-Manipulant” (RM) designation on a label, you’re looking at a bottle that represents a true labor of love, where one family controls everything from vineyard management to the final cork.

The beauty of Grower Champagnes lies in their individuality. While the big houses aim for consistency year after year, these artisanal producers embrace vintage variation, creating wines that reflect each unique growing season.
