Kick off the holiday entertaining season with this week’s Wine Wednesday tasting, where we celebrate the timeless charm and diversity of Spain’s iconic Rioja region. As December gatherings begin to fill the calendar, Rioja offers something for every table — wines that are expressive, food-friendly, and rooted in centuries of winemaking tradition.

We’ll start with the 2024 Cune Monopole Rioja Blanco, a fresh and lively Viura that brings bright citrus, floral notes, and an easygoing texture—an ideal aperitif for holiday parties. Next, we pour the 2017 López de Heredia Viña Cubillo Crianza, a beloved classic from one of Rioja’s most historic cellars, offering lifted red fruit, savory spice, and unmistakable old-world charm.

The 2020 Marqués de Murrieta Reserva showcases the polished, modern side of Rioja, with supple tannins, rich dark fruit, and refined balance — versatile enough for everything from roasted meats to festive winter dishes.
