Wild Duck Creek Estate Heathcote White Wine, 2023, Australia
Wild Duck Creek is a family owned estate who has been crafting superb wines since 1974. While they are most famous for their Shiraz, we were delighted by this full-flavored, aromatic, and textural white. “White Duck” is a blend of Rhone varietals: 39% Roussanne, 32% Marsanne, 15% Grenache Blanc, and 14% Viognier, all fermented in French oak. Pale yellow hued, aromas of stone fruits, flowers, and a little caramel lift from the glass. There are loads of flavor here– enjoy grilled peach, apricot, and buttered toast with jus enough acidity to balance out the ripe fruit. Pair this full-bodied white with autumnal dishes such as butternut squash or roasted turkey.
