This Rioja is incredibly delicious for its humble price. Prepare to be impressed by its generous aromas of ripe black cherries, cassis, and plums intermixed with accents of vanilla, coconut, cedar, and dried dill. Red fruits on the palate are layered with savory tobacco leaf on a medium body with velvety tannins and a bright splash of acidity. It is a blend of 75% Tempranillo and 25% Garnacha. The destemmed grapes fermented with native yeast and aged a year in American oak barrels. Faustino Rivera Ulecia began making wine in Rioja in 1899, and they clearly know what they’re doing! Their Crianza plays well with tomatoes, garlic, and red peppers. Pair this with lamb, chorizo, paella, or simply some manchego.
