Tenuta Poggio Bonelli “Villa Chigi” Chianti 2021, Tuscany

Bonelli’s Chianti hails from Castelnuovo Berardenga, in the hills around Siena.  It is 100% Sangiovese vinified in stainless steel and cement, so you’ll find no oak influence here.  Look for scents of dark cherries accented by juniper berries.  Compared to most Chianti, this one isn’t too light or tart.  It is medium-bodied with enough oomph to stand up to a meaty bolognese sauce, or anything your next red sauce night entails.
