Is Italian wine the world’s food-friendliest?
Back in another era when Italian wine wasn’t nearly as fashionable as it is these days, people used to say that you had to drink Italian wines paired with food. Otherwise, they wouldn’t taste good, they would tell you.
Somewhere between the 1970s and today, people began to figure out that Italian wines are arguably the best wines to pair with food. And that’s exactly what makes them so awesome. After all, as the Italians like to say, no wine without food, no food without wine.
The concept of food-friendliness in wine is what inspired us to pick the wines and pasta sauces at next week’s complimentary tasting from 5-7 p.m. (Wednesday, 1/25). Not only will we be pouring the classic Italian wines below but we will also be serving samples of Audrey Jane’s Pasta Sauces — Spicy Arrabbiata, Garlic Marinara, and Vodka — by our friend and neighbor Audrey Jane’s Pizza Garage.
