Troupis Winery ‘Fteri’ Moschofilero, Peleponnese, Greece 2021

Troupis is situated in the center of the Mantinea Plateau in the Fteri region of Greece. The family has been involved in viticulture since the 1970s, making a little wine for their own consumption and selling the remaining grapes in bulk. In 2010 the family began extending its vineyard holdings and bottling their own wine for sale. Their philosophy balances modern technology with respect for traditional winemaking. When walking through the winery you’ll see shiny stainless steel tanks abutting cement and clay amphora of various sizes and shapes, with a few wooden barrels scattered throughout. The Fteri Moschofilero is an intensely floral white combining the perfume of night-blooming jasmine, rose and citrus fruits. This leads into a surprisingly salty and crisp finish to make a wine that is as intriguing as it is chuggable.
