Sierra Norte “Ananto” Macabeo, Utiel-Requena, Spain 2019

Utiel-Requena is a small Spanish region located in the province of Valencia in eastern Spain, named after the two neighboring towns Utiel and Requena. This region is particularly well known for their use of indigenous Spanish grapes, including Macabeo. The cool nights in these vineyards combine with warm, dry days to be perfect for producing Macabeo with freshness and bright acidity. The Ananto Macabeo is sourced from 35+ year old bush-vines grown at 3000 feet in El Pozo Viejo. All of the fruit is organically grown. Look for intense fruit flavors of golden apple, quince, and melon, as well as earth tones of river rocks, leaves, and spring flowers.
