Paccamora Catarratto, Sicily 2020
When Vito Curatolo Arini built the family’s first winery in 1875 his goal was to make great Marsala wine. He succeeded, and today the estate is the longest standing family-owned Marsala producer. But when Marsala demand started to plummet in the 20th century his descendants had the foresight to branch into still wine production as well. Luckily for them, the major grape used in Marsala production, Catarratto, also makes a delicious dry wine. These grapes come from the western side of the island near the towns of Vita and Salemi. Crisp and refreshing, this wine weaves together subtle notes of lemon rind and white flowers with nectarines and green apples.
