Monte Zovo ‘Caligo’ Rosso Veronese, Italy 2016

The area surrounding Lake Garda and the historic city of Verona has been planted with grape vines for thousands of years. Along the shores of Lake Garda are the regions of Bardolino, famous for its light reds, and Lugana, better known for its whites. Moving east you’ll enter Valpolicella, famous for its robust Amarone and little-brother, Valpolicella. Monte Zovo has been crafting the full spectrum of red wines here for generations, but the one that caught our eye is their Rosso Veronese. Made from the same grapes as Valpolicella, this wine is especially fresh, vibrant, and lively, showing pretty red fruits with a subtle herbal tone. Serve with a light chill and pair with anything from grilled meats to pasta.
