Mont Gravet Blanc Cotes de Gascogne, France 2020

The Gascony region is well known for its Armagnac,  a distilled grape spirit that undergoes extensive aging in wooden barrels. But it probably won’t surprise you to learn that the locals aren’t drinking the local spirits all day, they need something slightly lower in alcohol to quench their thirst. Therefore, some of the grapes that would usually be destined for the distiller are held back to make dry wine, including the Mont Gravet Blanc which is made from 100% Colombard. Mont Gravet shows crisp notes of citrus fruits and white flowers with a hint of elderberry on the finish.
