Carménère is a medium-bodied red wine that originated in Bordeaux, France, and now grows almost only in Chile. This varietal is known  for its supple red-and-black berry flavors and herbaceous green peppercorn notes. Los Morros’s example possesses an attractive nose of berries and spice with an oak accent.  It offers up flavors of strawberries, black cherries, black tea, and dried leaves with a tomato-like acidity.  Carménère is a good accompaniment for earthy/meaty and green veggie flavors, so enjoy this with a simple weeknight dinner of  bell peppers stuffed with ground beef, or  lentils  with sautéed garlic kale.
