Le Ragnaie Brunello di Montalcino V.V. 2015

Riccardo Campinoti’s plot of old vines was planted in 1968. At upwards of 600 meters, it is one of the highest altitude Brunello vineyards and the last at Le Ragnaie to be picked. In 2015, it was harvested in the second week of October. The 2015 growing season gave this wine personality and aromatic abundance with slightly softer and more approachable contours. It possesses great class and gorgeous purity to its dark and red berry fruit, which is intermixed with herbs and bitter chocolate. Minerals add to its precision.  The Vigna Vecchia is drinkable now with decanting, and can develop in your cellar for 15-20 years.

In case you are wondering, the label depicts a traditional bird-catcher’s net.  It resembles a spider web, or ragna in Italian, from which Le Ragnaie takes its name.
