Maria Celeste is a winemaker and unapologetic feminist. With an all-female team in Lujan de Cuyo, Argentina she produces a very small amount of wine, some of which is available in Colorado. La Mala Maria translates to “bad/naughty Maria” and is about being unconventional and casting away the norms of somewhat rigid and certainly male-dominated winemaking in Argentina. Through her wines and hard work she hopes to create a space for more women to flourish in the Argentinian wine industry. Better yet, her wines are outstanding! The Cabernet Franc shows concentrated notes of blackberries and violets with a hint of spice from French oak barrels that leads into a structured palate framed by gentle tannins.
