The Felton family has been growing grapes in the Lodi region for six generations. Their ancestors had emigrated from Eastern Europe, eventually finding their way to Lodi, California. The family now farms large holdings throughout the area, growing mostly Zinfandel, some of which are the original vines planted by their forefathers.
This single-vineyard Grenache Blanc wafts from the glass with charming scents of honeysuckle, citrus, and lychee. On the palate, you will find plush flavors reminiscent of peaches, pears, and apples on a medium body with a brightening acidity. It’s fun to discover how this Mediterranean varietal tastes when grown in Lodi. The Felton family, fifth generation grape growers, own and operate Klinker Brick winery. This “Under the Sea” vineyard sits at 13 feet below sea level in the San Joaquin Delta at the western edge of Lodi. Try pairing this textured white with chicken satay, Chinese five-spice sea bass, or roasted pork shoulder.
