Bouchard Aîné & Fils Pinot Noir 2018
Bouchard Aîné & Fils is one of France’s great negociant families, sourcing grapes from vineyards throughout Burgundy. With hundreds of years in the business, they fostered long-lasting relationships and have access to some of Burgundy’s best vineyards. With the new appellation of Vin de France (created in 2009) they were given greater liberty in where they source their grapes, and for this wine they worked with vignerons throughout Southern France. Each plot was vinified separately and later blended prior to aging, which took place in mostly stainless steel tanks with some in oak barrels. The final cuvée offers complex cherry, cranberry, and toasted aromas. The palate is dry with silky tannins and a classically French finish.
