Bernard Moreau Chassagne-Montrachet 2019

The roots of this winery go back to 1809 when the Moreau family built their cellar across from the famed Champ Gains vineyard in Chassagne-Montrachet. But it was not until the 1960s and 70s that the domaine found its leadership and name from Bernard Moreau. Bernard took over the vineyards and cellar at the young age of 14 and we began to see a solidification of their reputation of making some of the purest wines of appellation. Their village cuvée Chassagne-Montrachet comes from 2 areas within the village, one-third of the grapes come from below Chassagne-Montrachet Morgeot and Champ Gains, offering minerality, and two-thirds near the border of Puligny-Montrachet, giving freshness and fruit. The wine is young but expresses itself with fresh orchard fruits, citrus oil, orange blossoms and salinity that persist across the palate.
