Anselmi “San Vincenzo” Bianco, Veneto 2020

Think of San Vincenzo as declassified Soave.  It wafts from the glass with broad aromas reminiscent  of grass, peaches, and waxed yellow delicious apples. It is medium to full-bodied with a hefty finish.  This stylish wine offers both freshness and richness. Roberto Anselmi is a well-respected producer based in Soave, just east of Verone.  Frustrated by bureaucracy and low standards, he chose to leave the Soave DOC and label his wines as IGT Veneto.  This gives him the flexibility to break a few rules, such as blending a bit of Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc into this Garganega-based wine. Anselmi’s white would pair well with rich Italian seafood, such as clams with gnocchi, scallops, and risotto.
