2017 Weingut Pfeffingen Dry Scheurebe

Weingut Pfeffingen is a small, family-owned operation in the Pfalz region of Germany. Here they grow the classic German grapes Riesling, Weissburgunder (Pinot Blanc), and Spätburgunder (Pinot Noir), but the house specialty is Scheurebe. The Scheurebe (shoy´ray beh) grape is a crossing of Riesling and a grape called Bukettrebe and was invented in 1916 by a man called Dr. Georg Scheu. Coming in a multitude of styles (from dry to dessert wine) Scheurebe shows attractive and intense aromas and good acidic structure, making it a popular wine in Germany. The Pfeffingen estate has made great Scheurebe wines for over 50 years, the dry style being introduced in 1978. It offers a beautiful bouquet of green apples, pears, lychee, and white peaches with a long, refreshing finish.
